Hi Teds mum! You are in the right place and welcome! I've been riding for just over 4 years now as an adult, so I definately know how it feels, somehow I'm not as brave as I remember being as a child on a pony! LOL.
What are comps like up in Rotorua? Do you have to travel far?
@ KA Raz you never told me you had a Dun! I LOVE Dun's, in fact my first horse we got 4 years ago was a Dun, unfortunately she 'broke' after a couple of weeks. :-( Dun's are still my fave.
Smokey sounds like he's going to be awesome, you must be pretty excited.

I'll tag in on this thread too.... Once upon a time in a land far far away, I used to 'do' eventing. Competed up to Novice, and jumped all the big boys toys, but could never get my head around that stupid stuff before the jumping started. Ironically (after I saw "the light" and walked towards it) I now compete straight dressage. I have an Advanced/GP horse who has started me on the path to god knows what (much to my parents horror!). I also have two talented youngsters. One lacks a brain, the other lacks maturity, so we are going to motorbike our way through the season, while my older darling will hopefully be the stalwart that stops me from throwing myself off a cliff at some point during the season! Erm, not only do we have those three, there is a broodmare, 2 young horses, and lots of others that are floating around that are leased out teaching people, or popping out babies left right and center. So erm yeah, lots of ponies... Oh - and some of you will know me already as Kerry - Christchurch

Oh and here's me too! Currently got a rising 3 year old (although technically 3) clyde tb cross whom I've just broken in. He's about to go on a few months turn out, and for the season I'm borrowing a friends lovely gelding. Ridden to prenovice ht, elementary dressage, thats about it. Oh and I have a husband and 3 little children of the human variety, aged 6 (twins) and 8 1/2. And I work full time. We live on a lifestyle block 5 min out of Wanganui. Thats about it I think!! :o)

Hi all I'm Kirsty, and I have a 12 year old TB gelding who can turn his hoof to anything (except hoofball :p). I'm two years back riding after 8 years off, and my dear jumping schoolie is showing me the ropes and I'm trying to turn him into a dressage horse instead! Oh, and the love of my horse's life is Karen's donkey Penny So disturbing!

Hiya, I'm In Welly. We've got 3 lovely gg's on our lifestyle block. There's Blu the 15.1hh silent soul TB who gets bored of grazing and loves to watch horse TV e.g. anything else thats going on in the neighbourhood. There's Autumn a 16hh Stationbred that loves grazing and can't see the point of stopping eating ever (hence has the wide girth to match). And lastly there's Edie the up in coming youngster who is just learning the ropes and would secretly like to be boss of the other two - her time will come!! Also joining us is the 2 chooks, 2 dogs, 3 cats & one toddler....

Hi - I'm Rachel, from Hawke's Bay, I have 3 Clydey crosses in various stages of handling and breaking in, and one Mini who just wanders about looking cute and creating havoc. I haven't competed in a long time, but I'm hoping one of my current 3 will turn out to be a nice adult riding club horse and keep me amused for a few years yet : )

Well, if I follow my nose in future I will be doing constant left-hand circles, and my lower torso still feels like a truck drove around on it for a bit. Otherwise fine, Lol. Noddy atually led around The Big Yard last night and only wet his pants once! He tried to pull away and do a wee rear, but it was wet and he slipped and ended up sitting on his bottom like a big bewildered dog. Was it wrong of me to laugh and tell him "I win!" ?

We have decided he's the horse version of Scooby Doo. He throws the most unco temper tantrums and his legs go everywhere. I should keep him just for comedy value.

Yeah...lots of fabulous people on here!!! Welcome all and looking forward to reading about more exciting editions of peoples horse stories!!!
Just a quick comment...I thought I might start a fitness program for myself (first time EVER!!) so thought I would run around my paddock. Well the babies (5 Yearlings) thought that the would show me up and ran around like maniacs kicking and carrying on!!!!! After 15 minutes I was completely stuffed...and they were still gallivanting!
Oh to be a horse!!!! :-)

Well, I have 13 horses and one on the way. I am lucky enough to own the best horse in the world Cruise. My rock. I am also lucky enough to have a herd to be proud of, my broodmares, by riding and performance horses, the sporthorses and the babies!

Newbie is a slang term for a novice or newcomer, or somebody inexperienced in any profession or activity. Contemporary use can particularly refer to a beginner or new user of computers, often concerning Internet activity, such as online gaming. It can have derogatory connotations, but is also often used for descriptive purposes only, without a value judgment.
The term's origin is uncertain. Earliest uses probably date to late twentieth century U.S. military jargon, though possible precursor terms are much earlier. Variant forms of the noun include newby and newbee, while the related term noob (often spelt n00b) is often used in online gaming.
