just letting everyone know I sell this, (and Rangiora Saddlery too)

It's the only supplementation my guys get, just a bucket of salt in the paddock for them when it's not raining.

A bit of a blurb on it here... http://www.talktoyouranimals.co.nz/therapies.html

I have used Kelly-Anne's Bioptron Light Therapy System and it was the only time the darn cat would stay still was when I was using it on him so he obviously enjoyed it.

yeah I was surprised how well it TRIED to work on the sore on my Great Dane, unfortunately it was never going to heal up as it was attached to the bone cancer he had LOL. But it dried it out and it even had the open sore shrinking. Have finally got hubby using it on his stuffed back too :o) Only took a couple of years of having units lying around here hehehe. All the dogs and horses get the salt, and it is THE BEST tasting salt you've ever had on food!

Right, was making the 'sole' up for the first time today. I have lots of food allergies that result in ezcema (spelling?) and I use cortisone cream with limited results. Well, making the sole up for the animals and my 'scratchy arm bit' was driving me nuts so got a cotton ball, dipped it in and put it on my itchy spot!!! Danny can testify, within 15 minutes not only was it no longer driving me nuts with hot itchyness, but all the lumps had gone!!!!!!

YAY! I don't have any probs like that so love hearing from others who can give the feedback. I've read some testimonials from people who have used it for eczema etc but always nice to hear first hand :o)

(you should try a 1kg detox bath mmmmmmmmm THAT I can talk about first hand, noice!)

LOL, with all my food allergies, including Coeliacs, Diary and also IBS, I'm too scared to do the entire detox thing, I might never leave the bathroom!!! LOL.

I can't believe my arm. I keep looking at it and waiting for it to get hot, red, lumpy and itchy!!! LOL.

nah, the bath is great, I've never had any detoxing crap come of it (that's when you drink it!) it is supposed to draw the toxins out thru the skin and replace them with the minerals etc, which is why you only have a 20-30 min bath or the process starts again and draws the mineral back out... left me rather energised! I had to work for a couple of hours before I could go to sleep hehehe.

Just got this email today, only posted her salt off to her on the 7th October!

"Hi

I just wanna say thanks a bundle!

One thing i never expected salt to do was clear up my dogs allergies!! she's been on steriods and in elizibethan collars, she had raw rubs from scratching and skin damage from constant licking. I put some sole in a spray bottle and gave her a good covering, after my mum suggested i take her to beach, as i don't live close to a dog friendly beech i decided the salt i got from you was probably better.

I first begun spraying her 3 times a day and now just once for up keep no more itching, no more sores not to mention how fast her skin in healing she's almost 100% better!

I'm also soaking my other dogs foot nightly, which he chews lots, every one is looking much better and i have you to thank for that i'm now saving so much in vet bills!! and getting way better results!"

Ok, I would like to add that today I put the sole on Boris's hot spot and he normally licks it off in seconds, so I gave him the bit of cotton wool with it on and he started licking it!!! He loves it!!!!!

Look I get nothing from giving it a 'promo' but I have been using steroid cream on my eczema for years and I decided to try the sole and within minutes it had stopped itching and the bumps went way down. I use it twice daily with better results then the cream!

actually that's probably the best way to do it Rachael, as soon as you put it on the skin give him some more to occupy him so the stuff on him has a chance to do what it does. Watch he doesn't ingest too much cotton wool tho LOL

I remember talking about it with a lady on Trade Me, said her daughter has eczema and on her face. While she was overseas she found little spray bottles of the HC Salt and her daughter would spray her face with it when she felt the eczema getting hot or itchy. She wanted to know what strength to make it up since that bottle had run out and NZ doesn't sell it like that.

One testimonial I read was of an 8yr old boy with bad eczema on his feet of all places, to the point they had big splits in them. They would put a handful of salt in his baths and within a week or 2 the splits were healed up.

I know it's stopped my bull mastiff boy getting wet eczema (like rain scald) he used to have to go on steroids and anti bugs if he got rained on because he'd have an outbreak. A couple of washes in copper sulphate at first signs and then put him on the salt and he hasn't had an outbreak in about 3 yrs now (he's nearly 5).

LOL, I actually squeezed the cotton ball of sole onto his front leg so he spent more time licking that then he did the 'spot'!

I would say he's not getting enough, either step up what's he's getting and see how he goes (and continue on giving them to him well after he's finished racing) or try the salt and do all of the above with the salt wink

Jody, seriously, I did the Mizone thingy but I would still get cramps that left me with tears rolling down my face and being unable to move on the couch after having back-to-back jump lessons on my 2 or competing. I will keep you updated with the Sole that I'm taking but I hardly got any cramp over the weekend so....

I keep mine in the pantry in a glass container with lid! You know to only dish it out/use it with a plastic spoon as metal as bad aye? I put it in my cooked food every night and no cramps!!!! Just shake it up before you dish out!!!!

I put in on my eczema (using a cotton ball) and cleared it up in a couple of days!!!

@KARaz: Does that stuff work for rain rot as well? whistle

Rain rot is an interesting infection. Its one of the few horse diseases out there that is going to bother you more than your horse!

The only painful part of the disease for your horse is when you remove the scabs. The actual infection itself doesn't cause your horse any pain or irritation -- not even any itchiness.

Which is amazing, because just looking at it makes me itchy!
Rain scald.

This disease is also known by a few other names, including:

* dew poisoning (when its on the legs)
* rain scald
* streptithricosis
* mud fever[color:#3366FF][/color]

rain scald is found in a copper deficient host.

Easiest way to clear it up is a wash in a 30% copper sulphate solution, and put 1tsp of copper sulphate in their feeds daily for 3-4 days (dissolve the bluestone in water obviously)

Once you get it cleared up, then yes, feeding something like seaweed meal or Himalayan Crystal Salt is generally enough to keep their copper levels up (free feeding it obviously)

I used to wash the bullmastiff in the copper sulphate solution too at first sign of his rain scald type eczema (except his would progress to huge open weeping sores within 12 hours of him getting wet, so a little worse than the horses rain scald they generally get)

Unfortunately we don't usually have 2 troughs available to horses but with dogs it's easy to have 2 lots of water out for them and put a copper pipe in one lot. They'll drink it when they need it smile (haven't done this for mine they get the salt LOL)

Fascinating if that is true?!?!?!?! A horse I have has some bad scarring across the top of his rump which is apparently caused by infected Rain Scald.

Himalayan salts are exotic, beautiful, and a wonderful addition to any bathing experience. Himalayan salts are found deep within the rivers and valleys of the Himalayan Mountains. For centuries, Himalayan salts have been celebrated for their versatility, purity, and many cosmetic benefits, and have long been a staple in the local economy. Their pinkish hue and crystalline beauty sets them apart from any other salt, and their benefits are wide-ranging both in and out of the tub. In addition to being used as a bath salt, Himalayan salts are quite healthy and used in place of ordinary table salt due to their rich nutrient and mineral content.
