A warm welcome to all you local and international subscribers to this, the latest update on New Zealand’s Information Network.
A reminder that via the Message Board, you can enter the forums to check out dozens of interesting topics, place you own queries up there and have the experts answer you. Perhaps you have some answers to other people’s queries? Forums are a great way to exchange information, go check it out. Remember, forums and message boards really do contain a lot of valuable information on virtually everything, including of course, transportation and accommodation, activities, immigration matters, visitor experiences and recommendations, you name it, you’ll find it here on the Information Network.
Now, quite a lot has been happening in our very busy office over the past few months? There have been several changes in the company, the main one being that Rachael de Hek has moved on to other projects, and is no longer with us. I’m Grant Shanks, author and freelance writer and I joined Danny and the team in March. Apologies for the delay in getting a new newsletter online, but it’s been a hectic last few weeks for me having to learn to navigate my way around this vast network. Remember, New Zealand’s Information Network has more than 6,000 pages of client information up in cyberspace and it takes a real effort and dedication to keep things ticking over.
Talking of clients as we roll into June, we have done work for quite a few new additions to the Network, many of them in the accommodation sector, which is going to be very heavily patronised with the Rugby World Cup coming up. But before then however, we’ve got a busy skiing winter to come.
Following the mildest New Zealand April in living memory, winter arrived early with a vengeance in the latter part of May, setting up what many believe will be a bumper ski season. So, if you are planning on heading to the New Zealand ski slopes this winter, better check out the accommodation options as soon as possible to ensure you can find a bed. For those intending to ski Mount Hutt, you might consider staying in nearby Ashburton at the Ashburton Regency Motels.
One of our new additions is Bayview Motels in Wanaka. It’s a great place to stay and it’s close to the Southern Lakes skiing action, so if you’re quick, you might manage to secure accommodation there for your intended ski break.
We’ve also featured 4 new hotels on the Network. These are the Ibis in Rotorua, the Mercure in Wellington, the Quest Taupo Apartments and Quest Napier Apartments. The HotelClub we are affiliated with handles bookings for these and many other leading properties. Check out the great specials and last minute deals.
Adventure Vans Luxury Campers are now on the Network, so check them out. A campervan is always a great option during the ski season, allowing you to enjoy our many great ski areas with a home and transportation all rolled into one.
Incidentally, on the subject of camper vans, Tui Campers have some excellent Rugby World Cup specials running and these are well worth checking out.
One huge project that has just been completed is for our Australian cousins. 60 Great Short Walks provides information on some of the tremendous walks available on Tasmania and neighbouring islands. In all, there are more 2000kms of walking tracks in Tasmania, making it an incredibly popular destination for those with a love of the great outdoors.
Okay that’s it for now. Hopefully I’ll have an update for you in early July. In the meantime I’d better get back to the coal face. For those of you here in the Southern Hemisphere, have a safe and warm winter. For you readers in the Northern Hemisphere - do come on down and see us sometime soon.
