Well after nearly 2 months of no riding (or the odd ride here and there) my heart is back into my girls and I rode them both today.

Saffy is sooooo fat!!! LOL. I will miss the rest of the SJ season but that is okay, just one step at a time at the moment and Molly was super 'yeeehaaaw', honestly I don't know if that girl will ever grow a brain but she is looking great, the holiday has done her good and she has filled out really well.

Just taking it slow with them, lots of 'long and low' and walking to get their fitness back up and build their topline but I don't think either of them hated having a bit of a holiday. LOL.

Oh my goodness, I bet it felt great to be back in the saddle after an 8 week break!

My youngster (Trapper) just had 8 weeks off. Amazing how much he has grown and filled out in that time.
He just had his proper 4th birthday at the end of December.

He was teething before he was turned out and even though he is bitless I am sure he was generally a bit uncomfortable. The teeth bumps under his jaw were enormous.

Apart from one spectacular buck on the lunge (suspect he was voicing his disapproval at being treated like a baby again) he has settled back to being a ridden horse really well.

I must agree that the break was the best thing for Molly as she has filled out heaps and she was going through a teeth phase too.

Funny thing though, since his break, my motivation to really get going with him again is seriously lacking.

He is such a cool little horse too. So if you happen to find some motivation slinking around, kick it back my way please!

I was like that with Smokey when we were just pottering around once a week or so, altho of course I had Mac to ride too. Now however, having no Mac to ride I jumped on Smokes and he's so much easier and more "fun" to ride than Mac I'm riding him more than I did Mac!

Just force yourself to get on him and let him do the rest laugh

2 months of no riding? Try 7 years! LOL blush

Apart from backing babies & the odd ride on Chance, I've not ridden at ALL!

It's my debut ride today (wish me luck!) on the new boy & I'm REALLY looking forward to being back in the saddle. Then once I'm riding fit, look out Chance!! laugh

Having two in work will definitely improve my motivation I think. Although I sometimes find it hard after working everybody else's horses. Hopefully being able to ride will inspire me to do more with my own. What's to bet I just get going & they'll finally call me up for surgery on my knees. cry
