Showmanship Challenge/Xmas BBQ
DATE: 13th December 2009
VENUE: Waimauku Pony Club Grounds
TIME: TBA
COST: $25 to enter the Showmanship Challenge/BBQ - Or $5 for just the BBQ
ENTRIES CLOSE: 10 Dec 2009
QUERIES: Tracy Holden
INFO: The Showmanship challengecomprises 4 phases - an in-hand run out, a ridden workout, a course of jumps, and finally a dressage test.

All phases are judged on the rider/handler's ability NOT the horse. Conformation, movement etc don't come into this one. It will be judged on how you endeavour to present your horse, how you try to perform certain tasks or movements, how you cope, what is done to correct things if neccessary, position over jumps etc.

There will be three levels based on jump height. All entrants will do the first three phases, then the four highest scorers in each group will go on to do the Dressage test. Ribbons will be given for each of the first three phases for each level. There will be ribbons for the Dressage, Rosettes for overall in each of the three levels, and an Overall Champion and Reserve. We will have some spot prizes too.

Level 1 absolute maximum height 50cm, Level 2 60cm and Level 3 75cm. Jumps will be set up as a showhunter course - no nasty turns or surprises, plenty of arena space.

The Dressage test will be sent out/published to all entrants prior to the day. Callers will be allowed without penalty - however in the event of a tied score if one rider had the test called and the other didn't, then the non-called test will prevail.

This day is combined with our WRC Christmas lunch too, which will be on during the break after the first three phases have been, prior to the Dressage.

Please send entries to Tracy Holden, PO Box 156 Kumeu, or complete the Internet Banking form.

Medical armbands to be worn by all riders on the day. Jackets, plaiting etc not required, casual wear ok, however please ensure suitable footwear and helmet
