At the SJNZ Conference 2009, The Showjumping New Zealand Board addressed Article 147.1 of the ESNZ General Regulations, this rule states that;

All horses must have an ESNZ approved ID Tag which must be worn during the whole event at all times

It was agreed that as of the 1st September 2009 all horses competing in registered showjumping events will need to display a Horse Identification Number.

SJNZ has decided, with consultation from senior showjumping riders, that the Zilco numbering system will be used. Each Show Secretary will provide each horse with a three digit number. This number can be displayed easily as shown below. These numbers can be purchased from ESNZ or your Zilco Stockists.

Well that makes it a bit more hassle doesn't it? frown Might need to look into that. I was having big dreams of fitting some jumping and dressage in to things now that I can do it without having to register the horse(s).

Would say so. It's normally a different number to your back number. Its like so they can check you have paid the ground fee for having yr horse there.

It's got nothing to do with registered and unregistered horses, it's just a new rule that every horse on the grounds has to have an ID number permanently on them that is issued on the day of the show. Normally different from your back number which is annoying. You have to have it on their halter and on their bridle or breast plate when riding.
