I went and followed a link from NZhorses and watched a clip or 2 a while back, and then followed the wrong link and ended up watching bull fighting... is that where the Garrocha came from, lancing/spearing the bulls?

The garrocha is a modified lance which they use to test out the young bulls with & for protection whilst herding bulls.

They basically do a pit manouvre like they do with cars with 2 riders one on each side of the bull, one prods on the hind end on one side while the other does the opposite shoulder and the bull then tumbles over.... like cow tipping at speed! ;-)

If it jumps up and wants to fight they keep it for breeding and the bullring, if it doesn't want to fight it goes to the butcher.

Its called Acoso y Derribo
